Private Coaching
When the old plan no longer fits
Private coaching for career transitions, major life changes, and complex decisions.
The Bigger Picture
Important decisions rarely happen in isolation
A decision about work may affect your family or sense of identity. A change at home can alter what you want from your career. Illness can force you to rethink plans you once assumed were settled. And sometimes the expectations you have carried for years no longer match the life you want now.
Private Coaching is for physicians, professionals, and others navigating a meaningful change or difficult decision. You may be reconsidering your career, returning to work after illness, adjusting to a new season of life, or simply questioning whether the path you are on still fits.
I offer a confidential, structured space to step back and look at the full picture. Together, we can sort through what has changed, identify the pressures shaping the decision, and consider your options with more clarity.
The goal is not simply to make a decision. It is to make one that fits your circumstances, your priorities, and the life you want to build next.

Who I work with
I work with physicians, healthcare professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, academics, and other professionals navigating meaningful decisions or transitions.
You do not need to have a health condition or work in healthcare to be a coaching client. What matters most is that you are facing a decision, transition, or change in direction and want thoughtful, individualized support.
THE COACHING EXPERIENCE
What to expect
Coaching gives you dedicated space to think clearly about a decision or transition. You bring the expertise on your own life; I bring questions, perspective, structure, and experience.
We slow the problem down, identify what matters, challenge assumptions, and explore possibilities you may not have considered. The goal is not to follow someone else’s plan. It is to leave clearer about what you want and what to do next.
Coaching is:
Private and Confidential
A dedicated space to think openly about decisions, priorities, and what you want next.
Different from medical care or therapy
Coaching is focused on clarity, decision-making, and action. It can complement medical or mental health care, but does not replace either.
Collaborative and client-led
You bring the expertise on your life. I help you identify what matters, challenge assumptions, explore possibilities, and turn insight into practical next steps.
“
Dr Zed Zha
Physician, Writer and Patient Advocate
I am a better doctor, and a better healthcare worker, because of her.
“Working with Zeest has changed the way I show up in medicine. She comes to every session deeply prepared. You can feel that she’s already thought about you, your work, your patterns, before you even begin. She listens with respect and real empathy, and she holds space without ever making you feel small. What I appreciate most is how she moves between big picture and detail. She can help you see the system you’re working in and then gently guide you through the very specific steps of how to move within it, without losing yourself. I am a better doctor, and a better healthcare worker, because of her.”

Why Dr. Khan
Why work with me
I’m a physician and trained executive coach whose own career has included high-stakes clinical medicine, healthcare leadership, parenthood, serious illness, and a major professional reinvention.
I know what it is like when the path you worked hard to build suddenly stops fitting—and when decisions about work are tangled up with health, family, identity, cultural expectations, and responsibilities to other people.
That experience shapes how I coach. I work especially well with people who are accustomed to solving difficult problems, but need an experienced outside perspective when the answer is no longer obvious.

Frequently asked questions
What is Private Coaching?
Private Coaching is one-on-one support for people working through an important decision, transition, or change in direction. It offers a confidential, structured space to step back, understand what is changing, explore your options, and decide what fits your life now.
Who do you work with?
I work with physicians, healthcare professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, academics, and other professionals navigating career or life transitions. I also work with people returning to work after illness, redefining what they want from their careers, or reconsidering a path that no longer fits.
You do not need to have a medical condition or work in healthcare to be a coaching client.
Do I need to be a physician?
No. Physicians are an important part of my coaching practice, but I work with professionals from a range of backgrounds. What matters most is that you are working through a meaningful decision or transition and want thoughtful, individualized support.
Do I need to have a health condition?
No. Private Coaching is separate from my Health Strategy service and does not require a health concern.
Some clients come to coaching because illness has changed their career, priorities, or plans. Others are navigating professional growth, leadership, family responsibilities, identity, or a major change in direction that has nothing to do with health.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching is focused on your current situation, the decisions in front of you, and what you want to do next. We may discuss the experiences, assumptions, or pressures influencing a decision, but the purpose is to build clarity and move toward action.
Coaching is not psychotherapy or mental health treatment and does not replace care from a licensed mental health professional when that care is needed.
Can we work on both career and personal decisions?
Yes. Career decisions often overlap with family, health, finances, identity, and personal priorities. We do not have to separate those issues artificially.
The focus of coaching is the decision or transition that matters to you and the broader context shaping it.
How much does Private Coaching cost?
The recommended starting point is a three-session package for $1,300. This includes three 50-minute sessions that can be scheduled at your own pace.
A single 50-minute Private Coaching session is $450 for clients who want to focus on one specific question or decision. Ongoing coaching is also available after the three-session package.
Is coaching confidential?
Yes. Our coaching conversations are confidential and are separate from your medical record.
Is this therapy or medical care?
No. Private Coaching is neither psychotherapy nor medical care. I do not act as your physician during coaching sessions, and working with me as a coach does not establish a physician-patient relationship.
My medical and leadership experience may inform my perspective, but the purpose of these sessions is coaching: helping you think more clearly about your circumstances, choices, and next steps.
You don’t need to have the next chapter figured out before you begin.
If something in your career or life no longer fits, we can start by making sense of where you are now and what you want next.
